The lighthouse and the wild rocky shoreline are perhaps my strongest visual memories of the Bruny Island landscape. On a recent trip there I reflected also on the sense of peace and contentment I gain when stepping off the mainland and onto the ferry. I also feel more acutely aware of my senses whenever there, as if during the journey over the water I leave behind the clutter and am able to walk again with naked feet and clear mind. I have tried to combine these emotional responses to Bruny with images painted directly onto the plywood on a recent rainy, blowy day at Cape Bruny.
