Artist Statement

This body of work came out of a recent stay at the Jenico Street Artist residence located in Queenstown Tasmania. While I was taken by the landscape and architecture my work focused on the people that live in this town. Aside from the miners and the families that had been there for generations there were interesting folk that sought a kind of refuge in Queenstown. Its isolation and cost of living offers the protection from the greater world that they required. Queenstown, it turns out, is a haven for lost souls.
